hi every one its my first day here and i need help got a mint 1990 f250 4x4 5.8 auto. my ? is got the truck with a bad motor well it run fine just leaked out of evey seal it could so i put a crate 351 init it has no power and does not shift right it did before im getting 8.3 mpg i need help the truck only has 18k miles origainly just sat it whole life the motor sounds great and starts good just feels like im towing a 30k lb trailer every where i go i timed the motor at 10 degrees before top dead center with the spout out please help its a real slug wont even power break

sorry, i really can't offer much more, i am a diesel guy, and my gas knowledge is in carb engines not EFI ones.
18K on original? why not just put a seal kit in the one it had, replace few gaskets etc?
Anyway is it a strictly "Stock" crate motor or something that's been gone over little bit? If cam'd, was a "computer friendly" cam used?
Really need know more about it, all stock motor fuel system etc?
Hows is it in the tune up department? All new stuff installed or reused original stuff? All new but cheap stuff from one of them auto suppermart type of places? New stuff all from Ford? Doubt cheap stuff from a guy buy a new motor but gotta be asked.
Spark plugs = Motorcraft copper? Platinum?
When you say it doesn't shift right, could you be more specific? How does it shift, slams every gear? shifts way too soon? or?
Oh and "power braking" = just begging to snap something expensive and or pain to fix.
