I have the 3.73 LS on my F250 and I have some bad rear end chatter. I just drained and added 75w140 Vavolyne synthetic and a bottle of Ford friction modifier. That only help a little bit so I tried to add another bottle of modifier. Chatter is better than it was before the fluid change but not gone by any means. I am thinking I need to have the clutch packs changed out, but I know nothing about rebuilding a rear end. Has anyone had this done before? My Ford dealer quoted me roughly $800 parts and labor which is more than I was hoping it would be. Is this something that needs to be done at a dealer or should I try and find a good indy shop to do this for me? Looking for anyone who has gone through this before.
My truck has 105k miles on it. Is this just something that happens around this milage with all Ford LS diffs or what? Seems like an expensive repair for all LS to have to have done every 100k.
I have almost 300,000 on my truck with the original LS 3.73 rear end. Are you sure you don't have bearings going bad? I know the factory LS is so so. When does this occur, when turning, accelerating from a dead stop? Also Have you taken apart and lubed the slip joint?

It happens when turning either direction, mostly from a dead stop or slow moving. I have done my research and this seems to be a bigger problem on the F150 99-03 LS rear ends. Just curious who has experienced it here as well.
