I already have head studs and have now blown a HG a cracked head 2 yrs later. I understand the boost/pressure can cause the heads to lift off the block surface but thought that head studs would fix that problem. What truly causes the HG failure and how can you monitor boost/pressure to try and maintain a safe level?
What tuner is in your truck?

Also have the heads checked for cracks, not uncommon.

Did the tech vent the cap after pressure had gone up? After venting the degas cap (hot) the pressure should have been 0-2 psi, after a few miles. With a digital pressure gauge i have seen up to 20 psi when hammering on it hot, it drops to 12-15 afterwards. After hot venting it didn't go above 1 psi, this test confirms my head gaskets are good!

Heads are at machine shop. Should know something late tomorrow or thursday morning. I have heard mixed things about surfacing these 6.0 heads, have any of you had an experience good or bad?

3 cracks in one head 2 cracks in the other. Needs a set of heads now, are there any specifics to look for, are different production years better than others, what about pushrod length?
