I have had my truck for 12 years and have done everything you can think of and I drive it like it is a baby and the very best ever was about 14 mpg (1999 F250 Super Duty, Super Cab, Long bed, Auto Trans, 6.8 V10, 4.3 gear, and 146k on her now) and BTY I live in the "Flat state of Fl.
So if someone can get even close to 20mpg please tell me how

I havent filled up yet but maybe someone can answer this. How many gal. Does it take to top off your tank at 3/4 on the gauge? I know half and 1/4 but not 3/4. Has anyone seen 200 miles out of 1/4 tank of gas? To date I haven't but I did on this trip. I know gauges aren't perfect but I know mine is darn close.
You cant count on the gauges, you just check you MPG the old fashen way,
Top off the tank, wright down the odom reading, drive 100 miles or so, top off the tank, read odom again to see how miles you drove devide the amount of gas it took to top off tank into the miles you drove. Size of tank dont matter or what the gauge reads.

Let me put it this way.... I have a 30 gallon tank, and I drove 125 miles before the needle came off the "F" Marker.

It doesn't matter. It will never be accurate and if it's the same twice, it's a coincidence.

See the above.
Actually, it bears repeating:

It will fall fast after the 125 miles mark, that you can count on, not trying to be a wize guy but just try what i said in the last post and you "will" get the MPG
I know how to figure out the actual mpg and will when I fill up. As far as the gauge not being accurate believe what you want. I almost never let it get below 1/4 and when I fill up it is always around 30 gal from 1/4 tank or 20 at 1/2. I understand that 3/4 may be differant but nobody ever said what they Usualy have when at this point. I know 200 is the best I ever saw.
That's cool man, not trying to make you look bad, just trying to help, I wish my gauge was that accurate.
I love this Ford Truck Forum, I have gotten a lot of help here.
