I'm going to be making a relay harness for my headlights. Is 14 gauge good or should it be thicker? The relay sockets have 14 gauge leads for power and 18 gauge for control, really only concerned about the power leads though. Thanks!
What type of wire? Insulation type? If it's the crap wire they sell at the parts store, use 12AWG. I wouldn't get relays with preterminated connectors, get ones with blade terminals and terminate yourself with insulated spades.
If you can find it, get a blank connector shell and terminal kit, and install that on your new harness. One like <a href=http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bosch-style-4-5-Pin-Relay-Connector-Bracket-and-terminal-kit-/150875303440>this</a href>.

Better yet, get a blank connector shell and terminal kit, and install that on your new harness. One like <a href=http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bosch-style-4-5-Pin-Relay-Connector-Bracket-and-terminal-kit-/150875303440>this</a href>.
I'll be doing this for all my added relays once I get my auxiliary lights installed.
I got 12awg from home depot. It was cut wire so the guy gave it to me at 16 cents a foot; 19 ft of white 15 of black. I'm hoping I have enough, we shall see. Did anyone who has built a harness switch over to H4 sockets or just stick with 9004 sockets? If so it it any problem getting the H4 to stay in the existing headlight housing? Should I just stick with 9004 sockets or what? Thanks!
