Autozone humor

i had to go get a bigger oil drain pan today and was walking up to the door and saw this guy that was a dead ringer for tom petty. I politely held the door open since he was carrying a battery and as soon as i stepped inside free falling by tom petty was playing on the store radio....i lol for a few

I thought this was going to be one of those experiences like you go in and ask for wiper blades and then they give the rundown on what engine? Does you car have ABS? Premium stereo or 8 track?

Just give me the damn wiper blades...

Josh, this reply is so awesome! I went in looking for bulbs the other day, and they went through the checklist with me like always. Lol I still don't know why they need to know what motor I have to find out what bulbs fit my dome light... Pretty soon the human race is going to be so brain dead and robotic that we are going to need YouTube tutorials to tie our shoes in the morning

It seems to have gotten a lot better with those stores the last few years. At least in my experience.

My comment above was somewhat in humor, but it really used to be like that.

And then there was a period of time when the stores completely frowned if you came in already having part numbers written down. No no, we still need to LOOK stuff up so the process is documented in the system.

As a side point I cannot stand AutoZone. Not really sure why, just hate the place.

All our Checker Auto stores became O'Reillys. They also cleaned house and brought their own people in who seem to know what's going on.

I like NAPA, but at the same time I really don't like going there for parts. I'm strange like that.

Advance Auto is good for online ordering and raping them with their online coupons. their new website blows chunks though. I miss the old Western Auto days.

I've had the same experience in every autozone I've been in here as well and I feel the same exact way about them as you. Nothing personal, I just hate the place and will go anywhere but there.

We still have a Western Auto around here. Best place for hard to find stuff - especially stainless and galvanized nuts/bolts. Decent for auto parts.

For me Autozone was the colsest palce by about 10 miles at the time. So i "forced" to go there, but then it seemed that every part that I ordered was wrong, even with all there questioning. Rotors too thick, wrong treads, I mean so wrong you cant just fake it. So I stopped going and drove the 10 miles to go to NAPA.

When Oriellys began to take over around here I was leery, but I gave them a shot. So far so good!
just my 2c on the matter

Just my luck,.my first no start hot happened about 100 yards from an Auto Zone Store. I asked the first clerk if he had any idea's? He replied " Oh that guy is going to school for Diesel motors let's ask him". His answer was" when was the last time you changed your air filter? Imagine the look on their face when I told them " Those air filters last longer than most marriages!

Gotta love those "diesel tech" students!

I was never really sure what to expect from those kids when I was hiring at my previous job. Most had no clue what to do and the longest most stayed was about a month if they weren't let go before that.

I know everyone has to start somewhere, but what the hell do they even teach them in those so-called schools?

I could hire a 19 year old farm kid and he would work out great, goes to show experience far exceeds book learning.

Same thing I deal with today hiring welders. A kid out of a tech or community college doesn't know crap about the reality of dirty, rusty metal, time constraints and the all important "time = money"

Plus, most of them can't weld worth a crap anyways, even with an AWS certificate.
