Question about backup camera wiring
ok i just bought a backup camera to go with the pioneer 4400 we just bought for the x...question i see a single yellow long rca...i know thats the video to the head unit...other is a red power lead with a split and a small red and black wire...i know the red is power and black is ground...question is can i direct wire the red and black into the reverse lights or should i find the reverse wires for the tow hitch...OR am i way off base lol..not great at Electrical stuff

so wire them to the reverse lights?...with the length of the wire it seems it is to be wired to power at rear of vehilce...and the intructions that came with it are kinda lacking lol

Does your HU manual talk about wiring a backup camera? IIRC, my Kenwood camera is wired hot all the time, and the Kenwood head unit is wired to detect reverse and switch to the camera input. The nice thing about this is that you can display the camera any time you want, not just in reverse.

oh ok still waiting for the HU to arrive...btw i got the HU pioneer 4400 brandnew off ebay with all the attachments minus the rear entertainment retention and truck harness...was on ebay with no reserve i made a 135 dollar bid and when i returned from camping had an email saying i won it lol.
