Okay, i have a 1999 f250 7.3l that is having acceleration problems. Whenever I'm on the expressway and I try to accelerate, my turbo seems to skip and the truck loses speed...When i don't press ghe pedal all the way down the truck seems to work perfectly. I would appreciate it greatly of somebody can help me.
Does your idle sound like a cackle fest or does it idle properly? Is it really hard to get up hills.
How many miles on the truck? Do you have a Check Engine light (Service Engine Soon) on or intermittent?
When was the last time you change your oil?
Have you washed the inside of your engine compartment lately or is it wet anywhere inside the engine compartment?
Where in the US or world are you located?
Are you running a tuner of any kind?
Have you ever pulled your valve covers and verified that your Under Valve Cover Harness connection is tight and then placed a quarter that is slightly cut off or a shim to keep the clips from coming loose again. This is called the 50 cent mod. It only takes a few minutes to pull your turbo inlet piping and the intercooler pipe on the drivers side then about 20-30 minutes to pull the valve cover. You will need a short 13mm socket and a wobble or flexible extension to get the bolt on the very back of the cover.
Have you ever done any inside fuel tank modifications also known as the Hutch mod?
Please post up answers as soon as possible so we can help you further. Here is a video for the Under Valve Cover Harness UVCH. 2001 F350 7.3L Turbo Diesel, UVCH - YouTube
FYI
LPOP is Low Pressure Oil Pump
HPOP is High Pressure Oil Pump
ICP Injection Control Pressure sensor
IPR Injection Pressure Regulator
Just a few terms to get you up to par with our line of questioning.
My truck does not have a turner...it idles fine I don't hear any crackling.
The truck has 232,000 miles on it and recently rebuild transmission in March.
did it ever have the throttle pedal replaced as per the recall?
there was a recall a few years ago for this very reason. go full throttle and get nothing.
after i replaced the throttle pedal in my 02 i have not had any problem in over 4 years now.
Did you watch the video above and do the modification. Check your Under Valve Cover Harness and do the mod. I am sure if you have not done it that it is causing you problems. 20 min to get the intercooler and turbo inlet pipes off 25 minutes to get the drivers side valve cover off. You might be surprised what you see on the connector. Do you have check engine/service engine light on? It could also be the Ehaust Back Pressure sensor tube being clogged and not sensing the proper signal to tell the computer that you need more boost. 232K is a lot of miles. This video will show you how to remove and clean the tube and sensor. Watch the whole video. You will need to turn your volume up. The guy is young but he took the time to document this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLZI2wMpn5I

Reason: more info
could this be speed sensor related?
I had what sounds like a simular problem, except od light flashed
replaced rear speed sensor on rear end and no more problem
Without any form of collecting information from the truck on the service port (OBDII), troubleshooting from afar is more challenging. I can suggest you click that last link in my signature and it will provide some help.
Do you have black smoke out the back? When was the last time you changed your air filter?
