I have a 78 f150 ranger xlt with the intermittent wipers and when running on the high setting after a few minutes the wipers malfunction and I hear the "govenor" box clicking like crazy.. just wondering if any one else has had this problem and how they fixed it??
It could be a couple of things, but the most comon...
Check the ground to the wiper switch. Make sure it's clean and tight. It will either have a ground wire attached to the switch, or it will ground directly to dash metal.
Also check for loose or corroded wiring at the wiper motor, and all connections at the govenor and switch.
Not as comon but the govenor could be faulty, or the switch itself.
I checked the ground on the switch and it was grounded well but i was working in the dark last night so Im gonna do some more investigating when I get home from work. Thanks!
