At the airport this morning looking for a parking spot and although the bar said 6'6 minimum height it was a lie and to boot someone put fixed bars on the swinging portion so CRUSH. I'm so pissed. 4 months old and now this ****.
I feel your pain, I really do. Had my 2012 F250 for 2 1/2 months and a semi pulled out in front of me that was pulling a grader. They decided not to clean the grader off and at 50mph I decided to pass him so I wouldn't get hit by any rocks.
Didn't make it that far, as soon as I got next to him a baseball sized rock hit the passenger quarter panel and front door and took it down to the sheet metal. I almost cried but my 10 yr. old daughter was with, couldn't let her see dad cry.
But she's fixed now. The first scratch was the hardest.
Bring a tape with you. Messure across. and even "if" it is 6'6, I would think the sighn should flex or at the very least have a "bumper" ? No idea what regulations are for that sort of thing, but most of the garages around here (Boston) list the clearance 1"-2" shorter than it really is. Just my 2 cents.
I think the airport authority is getting a visit from me ASAP.
Why, what did they do? You hit a clearance bar and did damage to your truck. You screwed up, so man up and take care of it yourself. The airport is not at fault. If you damaged the clearance bar, you should pay for it as well.
If the bar is lower than what the hieght says he is not at fault by any means. That's why it was mentioned to measure the bar hieght. Who cares about the airport, they have millions in county funds to to fix all that.

because the bar was incorrectly labeled and did not swing like all others. I checked after getting out and someone fixed bars to it into the concrete. If it's their posting, their responsibility and my truck is not lifted otherwise I'd say stupid me. Either way I'm calling two people at the airport board and visiting them tomorrow.
If it's not a brand new truck and looks no worse than that, I'd paint it and leave it. The priming job done on new welded-in roof panels is usually pretty poor, and they will rust after a few years. Nothing beats factory primers, as far as rust prevention.
the interesting thing is FORD said a new roof and my body guy said he can fix it for about $1,000. Doesn't look like it's into the pillars IMO but what do I know. Either way anything over that 1k will incur a surcharge on my insurance which is BS after 23 years and NO claims.

Is your truck a 4wd? Stock cab height is 6' 5" for a 2WD, and 6'8" for a 4x4. From the photos it appears that yours is a 4x4.
I hate to say it, but unless that sign was less than 6.5' this is nobody's fault but your own. It is NOT their responsibility to ensure their warning signs won't damage your vehicle, but it's always the driver's responsibility to ensure his vehicle is capable of fitting under marked obstructions.
Look at the bright side: when I was driving 13'6" semi trucks, if I hit anything marked as low clearance it would have cost me my job.
ON edit: Just looked back at your posting history; your truck is an FX4, which makes it 4WD. Which means it WILL NOT clear a 6'6" low clearance. Which makes this nobody's fault but your own.
I checked again today and the sign says 7'3, I was looking at the wrong exit. It was 6 a.m. and I was late for a flight. I measured and noticed it was 6'4 so it was improperly marked. Either way the airport lost my business after all the crap they've changed, for starters, and off airport parking for me full time now like before.
