Thumbs up Engine mount steel thinkness

What thinkness of steel should engine mounts be made out of? I'm looking to make my own mounts but I'm not sure what thikness of steel to use. Also any tips or better yet pictures of mounts anyone else has made, I would love to see them.

After I installed the Mustang II suspension I had to build mounts for the 429. I used 1/4 steel and black pipe for my mounts. They ended up being about 4-4.5 inches wide at the mounting point and as wide as the 429 mounts on the end. The second piece I placed at a 90 to the first piece for strength. Since I cannot add pictures here, I will try to put a couple in my garage.

It all depends on how you make them. Mine are 3/16 and 1/8 but they are boxed. If you are using a single piece of steel I would agree with the 1/4. Look at most factory mounts in the 60's and 70's and the are 1/8 but they don't have much reach. If it is going to be long make it thicker and gusset it.

Thanks for the pics. I was planning on making mine simular yours. I guess I'll go with the 1/4 inch plate. I hope to get this done by this weekend.
