Drive line slip joint

The other day I was on my way home from town crusin 75 ish on some back roads all the sudden I heard a noise like someone put a big zip tie on my drive line,,, I pulled over and found the rubber boot exploded what could of caused this is the rubber replaceable? When're can I get one ?

IIRC you can get the boot from the dealer if it's not reusable. I would get the ford grease as well and since you have it apart I would re grease it
