Help, my Excursion is doing weird things!
A while back wife got into a wreck with it (frontend). They did a great job on it. But when I got it back I hadn't driven in a long time. I think when I used to lock the doors with a key fob, the horn honked. It doesn't anymore. Am I crazy or did it used to?
I have also had the motor die after driving it a short distance (3-5 miles) and letting off the throttle coming to a stop at a stop sign. It starts right back up and doesn't do it again.
Last Wednesday coming home from Costco, I have long hill to climb on the freeway. My Edge with atitude had the boost alarm go off. I think it read 28.5. I let off and hit the throttle again and the alarm went off again. I did not have a load or anything that should have caused this. After I got back to town, I shut it off and restarted it. It seemed to fix.
I know when I tow my boat a long ways, the engine light comes on. The guys that put the Edge with Attitude on said that this happens with the Fords and to take the battery terminals off, let it set, and reinstall them.
I had the motor light on after towing several hundred miles and it resets by itself after driving without towing something.
So I decided to undo the battery terminals and let it it, then put them back on. When I did this my Excusion locked the doors and now my key fobs do not work and the alarm goes off. I read to put the key in the ignition and turn it back and forth 8 times within 10 seconds, leaving the key on. The locks are supposed to lock and unlock. It didn't.
How do I reset my alarm and key fob? Please help. A buddy said to pull the Edge with Attitude out and said they do not work on Fords very well.
Could all of these be related to a computer glitch. Could it cause the motor to die too? He said that all of the Edges he has seen caused problems with Fords. Looks like a pain to remove. A lot of connectors to unplug. Is there an easy way to unplug something on the edge and not take it out, to take the Edge out fo the equation?
