Liberal use of the pedel on the right always improves turing radius.

Conanski is definitely onto something there.
I swapped from the Dana 50 TTB to the Dana 44 HD straight axle in my truck and the straight axle definitely has a better (sharper) turning radius. Now I don't know if that's true for a Dana 60, but on the 44 it's that way for me.
The other thing is, if you swapped to a Dana 44 straight axle, you could just use the half ton axle and keep your 5 lug all the way around, which would make that a little simpler. Along with the plus that a 44 goes for a couple hundred bucks and not a grand like the d60.

That's not bad, idk what year they changed over, but make sure you get one with disc brakes and an open socket. The closed socket versions aren't as tough.

Pretty sure he means open knuckle, basically if you can see the u-joint. They have larger U-joints and are much stronger.

Either axle should turn sharper then your stock TTB. The real question usually isn't really the axle, it's the limits from tire rubbing and the pitman arm not turning the knuckles to there limits. That said my KP D60 turns rather sharp. Shaper then my brothers BJ D60. My CC LB with 37s turns sharper then his ExCab LB with 33s. Can't really say why though. I do know on mine though my pitman arm doesn't travel enough to take the knuckles to there limiters, though for me it don't mater cause my tires rub the springs first anyway. I'm sure though with smaller tires and a longer pitman arm it would turn around in about I would guess 3 lanes. Now I need about 4.

I had a D44 in my short box Jeep truck(this truck was made by AMC and used a lot of Ford parts) and that thing would turn around in 2 lanes, pretty awesome. Once again stock the pitman arm on that truck didn't travel far enough to really take the D44 to it's turning limits so I put a longer one on and it was night and day.

Yeah, open knuckle, open socket. Same deal. But yes, open knuckle is stronger. And disc brakes>drum brakes
