I found an early 80's ford with 300/4sp. Truck runs & drives good, but a tree fell on the cab. Its real cheap. I was thinking about a swap to put a 67-72 body on this early 80's chassis. But this raises a few questions:
1. Would these trucks' cab mounts match up?
2. Will bed / hood & fenders bolt on?
3. If they do match, what would be the most common problem with the swap?(ex. fuel filler, wiring) I understand there's a list of things as long as my arm that could go wrong. But curious about specific problems of marrying these two model trucks.
I'm halfway hoping one of y'all tell me this is one of the dumbest projects I could ever take on. Please, someone talk me out of this.
Thanks for your time.
Just get a cab from a 1980-1996 (1997 F250HD-350). I may be wrong but the frames on the trucks you are looking at are narrower then ours. Also you would have to do some fab work. Sounds like it could be a sweet project.
Hey blueoval,
Why not take that sweet running 300 and 4sp tranny and swap them into the older truck. Although the cab swap may seem simple, all the little details do tend to sneak up on you.
