ok, i was reading through an old thread about smog pump removal and a question went unanswered.... i am in the process of removing the cat on my 94 350 with the 460. just before i took the sawzall to the pipe, i noticed the line coming from the smog pump that ties into it. now, i have put some thought into this, but am uneducated on that pollution mess.
so now here is the question...if i remove the cat, what do i have to do with that line? can i just plug it off? should i weld a spout into the strait pipe that im installing in place of the cat and hook it back up? if the result is me having to go through the hassle of having to remove the entire smog assembly to eliminate it, then i will more than likely just go with connecting to the new pipe. just tryin to figure out what method would be best. would plugging that line cause a negative effect elswhere?
There's no harm in just tying that air line up out of the way but it will make funny noises when the system diverts air down through it, so you may want to weld on a bung and re-attach it to your straight pipe.
