Air pump removal

My 87 is over 10000 GVW and I do not have to go to emisions with it. The belt is off the two pumps and I would like to take them out to make working on the truck easy. Also there is no cat. on the truck (never was one from new). Can I just pull them off and plug the lines or is there somthing more that needs to be done to it. Thanks

My 300 had ports near the exhaust manifold that had to be pluged. I used brass pipe plugs right into the head, other than that, I pulled it off and never looked back.

my '89 302 had the hoses to the pump removed (cut) and that's all I ever did to it. the line of of the exaust pipe wasn't there after I put on a cat back, also removed the vac line that go to the EGR and the little soleniods that sit next the the coil. she's been running fine for 2 years now

Make sure you leave the EGR, the computer won't be happy without it. The two pumps were a joke, if the check valves are still good on the hoses you can remove the pumps with little issue. The only downfall is it's a big $$$$ fine if the feds happen to catch you.

my EGR is still electricaly connected but only because I'm lazy and havn't looked at duping the computer into thinking it's there. As for the feds I drove into the garage and passed an emissions test with no problem so on that note I'm legal. I did make sure that I have a good Cat mind you. way I figured it was the pump wasn't functional when I got the truck and it passed anyway.

My smog pump took a dump last week and cost me a new belt (put on 3 months ago) . I had to replace the ground cable so it was a good excuse to dump it off completely along with the plumbing for it. 4 hrs and one 88.2" blet later, I'm rockin and rollin again
