Air Pump Bypass - How?

Ok, I did a search, but not really sure how to word it and I didn't find anything.

I have a 1990 F250 with the 460. I am going to have to replace the entire exhaust system from the manifolds back soon, as in like a month, and I need to know something.

The cat has two tubes that come into it from the air pump system. I do NOT have to worry about emissions and never will for the remainding life of the truck.

Does one line pump into the cat and then one sucks it out? If so, can I just hook the two lines together and leave the rest of the air pump on there? If not, what is the correct way to get rid of the air pump.

OR

I'm going to get new manifold pipes from a parts house and then fabricate a custom true dual exhaust from there back, should I just weld the air tubes to the new exhaust past or on the crossover?

What do you all think is the best way to go?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Air Pump Bypass - How?

I removed the air-pump on my 1994 460 when I installed headers, it is a farily easy job. I took all the lines and hoses off then removed the pump and pully then installed a shorter belt to run the alternater. I only had one pipe going to the cat and it pumped air into the cat. If you don't run the cat then you will not need the two tubes. If you stick with manifolds that have the spots for the air-pump system you can just get pipe plugs to block off the holes. Hope this helps some.
