Do you have plans for a lift kit? The front pumpkin is awfully close to the pan. I bet by the time you put the entire front clip on and hood, the added weight, the two maybe touching. And then theres the axle articulation. Nice to see an IH in something!
Thanks guys and was planning on using super duty lift springs to get between 2-4in over the stock highboy springs and see how it does. Its nice to see someone that knows a bit about IH watching like nevernufhp and the best part was i got the DT from a local farm service for 750 as a complete running engine and trans so was cheaper than a 6bt all around.
But as for today the work got cut short and was only able to cut up what little was left of my 77 frame to start boxing in the highboy's and mark out a little on the steel for my new front cross member/ engine mount, so tomorrow after I get done working i'll move it into the shop before it snows and get something done for once.
Ok so last couple days didn't get a lot done and ran out of steel today so hopefully tomorrow it be close and wish it would've turned out looking better but i guess for this frame it'll be more strength over looks.
What's left of my 77 frame that i'm using to box in parts of the HB's
After pulling the tarp when I made it home

Boxed portion until rest of front mount is built

So i have the frame boxed for now and the front mount pretty much finished, but waiting on bushings and a filter then I'll finish the rear mounts and test run. Have pictures to upload once i get the internet working at my house so it's coming along
Sorry about not doing any post for a while, but got a bit done over Christmas.
I got the mounts done and it is sitting in the truck, have most of the wiring figured out, and then when I my new starter comes in and I make it back home it'll be time for a test fire. Then it all comes back apart for finish welding and painting so it's getting close.
Wish i would have taken some pictures of the finished rear mounts and how it looks under its own weight, but that be next time and hopefully a video of it running too.
Now for some pics
Front mount/cross-member tacked in place
First round of welding and the bushing sitting in position
pulled the rest of the front clip and have engine sitting on front mount and jack under the pan
Rear mount location and the mounts I went with after a few less successful attempts
Hope this will give you an idea of how bad my cab mounts are, but somehow the rest is pretty much rust free
PLANS:
Get it running
Pull engine then finish welding then paint frame black
Put new gaskets in top end of engine then paint block and head DT blue, brush and clear all the aluminum parts and the fuel lines( intake, pump, turbo)
Build new drive shaft from trans to t-case
Finish body to match
Yep I'll be adding gussets around all of the places that have a possibility to break and to make the frame a little more solid like the factor cross-member that got cut out. This truck won't be getting too much abuse for the time being until I start the rebuild of the lifted 79.
