Brake lights going out.

I've had my 03 Ranger for about a month now, and I have noticed that while I am stoped I can let a little pressure off the brake pedal and my brak lights will go out, but I will not move forward as if I were to let completly off the brake. I've taken it to the local dealer, and they said that it might be the switch? But they either didn't try to fix it, or couldn't.. I'm very concerend to where if I were coming to a stop one time, and were to sightly let off the pedal, and the lights were to go off, I could get hit. Any suggestions? Thanks

Brake lights going out.

Look down around the pedal and adjust the switch.

Btw, It usually works the other way around.

The switch used to *Pop-out, thus, turning the lights on*

Of course you have a new truck, so I don't know how the switch is made, but if it's like the older trucks, the switch is self contained with no adjustment. What they did with the switches I am familiar with is, the hole in the rod going to the brake booster is bigger than the pin on the pedal. This gives the pedal some "slop" or play in the rod. The brake switch takes advantage of this play to activate itself, with a built in spring in the switch.
