The only reason I wont buy that turbo is (and this will sound weird I know) The high pitched whistle will drive my dog nuts while pulling the camper.
I used to take her and my male JR with me to work when I drove local semi dump, and my Cummins KW had a loud turbo and my dog would start shaking violently when I gouged on it, after I got a new truck with a Cat C13 twin turbo (quiet turbos) they would sleep thru anything.
I've read about a few guys that regret that turbo after a few hours of towing. I know it sounds corny, but I would have to find a quieter turbo before I upgrade.

Hey Frank,
I've been running a set of Swamps 175/146 singles for over 2 yrs. I chose these because they were slightly larger but not too big. i had several tuners and suppliers recommend these because of the weight I tow (18K). with my tuning and such I can tow all day long and never get over 1150 on the pyro. It also dynos at some good numbers too

Sounds Good Frank !! Now would also be a great time to do your injector cups . First of all on the E99 they used a different cup sealant which can be affected by ELC coolant and with close to 300k it would really bite to put new injectors in and have a injector cup start to leak on your way to Mississippi in a few months and have to deal with it on the road. Because I would really hate to see you have more problems on the road. Besides after this if you replace injector cups and rebuild oil cooler you should be "Good to Go" for ELC.

Sorry for bringing this up but I am just trying to help you spend $$$ and hopefully avoid breaking down when you are on the road.

I appreciate the concern Ed, But I was really hoping that no one would mention cups....It's the elephant in the room that I was going to ignore, and hoped that it would go away
I've looked into the cups and it doesn't look like a fun job....AND my oil cooler could use a rebuild. I'm getting a little sludge in my coolant filter, not much, but enough to warrant a cooler rebuild.
I have a budget for this job, and It looks like it may go over...

Sorry Frank for bringing that up but honestly the E99's have been know to have issues with the sealant they used. And IIRCC it was usually around 250k-300k or earlier if a guy switched to ELC.

As far far as it being a NOT to fun job... well it would suck even more doing it on the road or having to pay to have it done. I have faith you can get the job done. Besides you know you have the brotherhood in your corner.

IIRCC I think most guys have had better luck with Clays tools and Rosewood tools aren't as easy to use. I could be wrong but I am sure someone will post up on that.

Now as far injectors and bang for the buck. I know Rosewood is the lowest costing of all your choices you have. It is too bad the AC's cost so much. I myself am leaning toward the Swamps 175/146 with a 5yr warranty. But I too have no idea what a 146 nozzle means?? Is it a 100% nozzle or does that mean it is a 146% nozzle. Because after everything that Joe pointed out the 100% nozzle or larger is the way to go for tuning. And as far as cost they are in the middle of AC's and Rosewood 160's.

Ed, I like Clays Cup tool better, and will get the cups and tool from him. I'm still running green coolant. I'll prob leave it in there, it's not too old and I check the ph quite often use additive when needed.

I too am running the green and I have a hard time keeping the ph in spec. I have used Napa's additive and some others without much luck. I think it is because they are DC4 additives and not the DC6 which is what the Motorcraft VC-8 stuff is. So I need to flush and start all over and use the VC-9 to clean out the system first. That is why I look forward to doing my injector cups so I can switch to the ELC and be done with it. Which additive do you use??

Apologize, but this injectors stuff is just FLY'N over my head. Tugly, when you just said, AC-160's, is this the same as what Franko's ordering, being the S.S.'s, or its a single shot but an AC injector.

I gues what i'm try'n to ask, is the S.S.'s that lets say Clay has for sale, are those the AC's Joe and Tug are mentioning?

BTW... Franko, if its $$$ right now, i got 2-oil cooler rebuilds at hand, i can send you one, and when you have the $$$, send it on back. ?

Franko, I just watched a video at AngeloFishes cups and tool also. You don't have to take anything else apart like rockers. It looks easy, but know nothing is that easy. At least for me.

I use the Motorcraft additive Ed, maybe a 3/4 to a full bottle once a year to keep things in check.

Thats a nice Offer Tim, but I'm going to hold off on the oil cooler and ELC for a month or so. I'll do injectors and cups now, and let the bank acct recover.

I know you asked Barney but I'll help. The first number is the displacement of the injector at 1000 shots. 175=175CC of fuel per 1000 shots. The second number is the nozzle size, generally in % but Swamps has them at 146 which is the stock nozzle size.

Stock AD's are essentially 140/0 Stock AC's are 160/0 in percentages.

Now that is too Funny !! But not funny for you. Do you have the saddle bags for the bike?

So did you get your new tires yet or you are waiting until the truck is back on the road? Well I am happy for you about the injectors. So how much did the injectors set you back from Rosewood?
