Back up sensor issue

For the past few months my back up sensor hasn't worked at all on my 2002 F-350, the off light doesn't come on when i hit the button no matter what gear its in. I tried the clicking test that i heard of on this forum but even with a stethoscope I'm still not able to hear any clicking. Checked the harness under the truck and the two plugs and everything looked clean. Anyone have any ideas on what else i can look into or anything i may have missed? Thanks

I believe that, if there is a fault in the system, the OFF light will be illuminated all the time. In your case, the light doesn't illuminate at all, whether you hit the button, or not. Correct?

That sounds like maybe it isn't powered up. Check the fuse list.

Correct the off light doesn't light up at all, the backlight illuminates when I turn my headlights on but don't think that has anything to do with it.. any idea where the fuses may be.or where I can find that information?

I checked the manual, but the feed to that system isn't listed. And I don't have an '02 schematic.

I checked around for any bad fuses and everything looks ok.. but yesterday it was raining all day and when leaving work my reverse alarm stayed on no matter what gear i was in, as soon as i started the truck it went on cause i was backed up to a wall and anytime a car got close to me while driving forward it would go off as well.. any thoughts?

The fuses and their locations can be found in your owners manual, if you don't have one you can get it here. https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

It is not supposed to be active except when the truck is in reverse. So this problem does not sound like a sensor or a fuse. Are your reverse lights on all the time? Probably not. This one may be tough to figure out. Could be a bad module, shorted/wet wiring, bad reverse switch in the trans.
