What to do 2011 F550 RampTruck 11,850 miles on it the vehicle has been back to the dealer 5 times for the same trouble code P0299. After the last time it was in they had it for 2 weeks seemed to be fixed.Last week one of my drivers was towing a Chevy S10 50 or so miles and heard a very faint ticking like a stone in the tire that got instantly worse and before he could pull over started rapping and stalled out. We towed it back to the dealer they removed the Cab disassembled the engine and found a "blown piston" is there quote. What should we do about this problem the dealer is supposedly fighting with Ford and Ford doesn't want to put in a new engine. They want to fix it instead
I'd suggest letting them fix it but insisting on a warranty that covers at least 100k miles from the point of the fix. I hate to hear about situations like this. Hopefully they will make it right for you.
I'm guessing your servicing dealer has a bad reputation with ford and is in warranty jail. Mis management of dealer service departments make ford look bad.
You have been in more times required for lemon now if you have been without your truck enough days.you can use that as leverage to get them off there butts. Ck your laws and proceed as you want.
Good News talked to the Owner of the Dealership and he said the New Engine is on the way they ordered it Friday. Now hopefully it won't take them long to swap it out.
He said new engine and he also said it was an emission part that was inside the cylinder that caused the damage.I am wondering if it was a piece of one of the many parts they threw at the truck trying to figure out the original code problem. He also said that it wasn't his techs just guessing on parts but that the tech line and a field service rep telling them what parts to change.
I would ask for a 100,000 mile warranty from the time they put that new motor in
Tell Ford that is how they can pay you back for the down time
Also I assume it is new and not rebuilt
I would doubt there being any rebuilt motors in the system right?
Glad they are fixing it because in most states a F-550 is not covered under lemon laws.
I would be real interested in knowing what part of the emmisin system made it into the cylinder. I have heard of injectors on the 450 & 550 wrecking a motor but emmision parts????
