I'll soon be looking for a new vehicle to replace the `06 Milan V6 that I'm now driving. I currently have 153,000 miles on it and have had very little issues with it. I'm thinking about maybe switching to a `11 or `12 Taurus or Fusion. I know the Taurus is about a foot longer, ~6 inches wider and probably doesn't get as good of mpg but dang they look sharp. Has anyone here made the switch froma Milan or Fusion to a Taurus?
My family and I rented a 2011 Fusion to travel from SE Idaho to the Oregon coast and back. This car was optioned to the teeth - leather upholstery, sunroof, Sirius satellite radio, a kick-a$$ stereo system with (I think) 8 speakers, etc., etc., etc. It was a very nice car and we were all impressed with it. It took us half the trip to figure out what all the buttons, dials, and doo-dads on the dash panel did LOL - we even found a button that changed the color of the light in the cup holders - it baffled me why anyone would need to change the color of the cup holder light... The dash gauges were very easy to see, even in bright daylight - I'd like to get a set of those for my Ranger LOL. The seats had good lumbar support which, I need - however, over the course of the trip, we started finding them uncomfortable to the point where I started getting leg cramps in my right leg. We averaged ~30 mpg on that trip on standard unleaded gas - this was a Flex Fuel car. I don't usually take pictures of rental cars, but I took some shots of this car.
Recently, I had a chance to ride in a 2011 Taurus. I liked the "wraparound" console idea - gave it a sporty feel. I didn't spend a lot of time in this car but there was quite a bit about it that reminded me of the Fusion.
Those are just my experiences, I can't really recommend which one to buy as I liked both cars...
My one girl went from a Focus to a 2010 Milan(discontinued)and while looking at the fusion, we decided the Milan was better appointed than the Fusion. The Milan had 20K miles, but looked like new. Now at 40K with no problems. This is fwiw.
They're both great cars...the Fusion is going to be less expensive...especially with rebates and the new model coming out. The 2013s should be in the showrooms mid September. Ford has taken them up the price scale and there won't be any incentives...at least initially.
I'm getting near 30mpg on the highway and mid 20's in mixed driving so it's going to be hard for me to switch to the larger Taurus. Anyone here driving a late model Taurus and if so what mpg's are you seeing?
