Arghh !! Suspension conundrum

OK, I am a new X owner looking for a lift to give me a little more height to run 315s or 35"s

I was pretty convinced to do a V-B swap with hanger kit, but now I'm not so sure.

Talked with 2 local shops today. One had no experience with Excursions and was quickly marked off the list. The other had done some Exs and recommended a suspension lift of about 5" (said probably an Icon but wanted to see the truck first). He felt that the ride would be better with the lift than the V/B ( I explained it briefly)

I am looking for the minimal amount of lift to run 35s with no rub and I want it to be safe and stable with the best ride possible.

Does anybody have experience with both set ups ?
Is one clearly superior ?

Is it worth it to change the sway bar at the same time ?

I am fortunate at this time to have no steering wander or obvious handling issues just some worn springs and shot shocks so I am seeking the best solution.

I appreciate any help

I have the Icon 4.5" on my truck...I can tell you first hand that it rocks for ride quality

but

There is a reason the V/B swap is so popular here on FTE. How big a tires are guys running with the V/B codes?
