Handbrake self-adjuster spring
Turns out the new cable I bought was about 4" short. I now have the cable connected properly, but I am having a lot of trouble getting the clockspring reattached. There is precious little space to work through the hole in the floor to try to pull the end around. I keep losing the end & it flips back around on me.
After the 20th or so time having it spring back on me, I lost my temper and chucked my pliers across the lawn. I think they cleared the road and ended up in the hay field. I couldn't find them in the dark. They were a nice set of brake spring pliers. Dang.
Anyway, has anybody here had any success reconnecting the clockspring? Any tips, tricks, better suited tools, etc?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers,
Eric

Yep, I do that to when something doesn't go my way, chuck the closest tool as far as I can and cuss.

Anyway, back on topic.
When you get the clock-spring into position, you insert either a #1 Philips screwdriver or similar size Allen wrench into the hole in the side of the e-brake.

I can't remember which hole it is, I think it is the lower one, but they will be in the same location on both sides, you then match it to the hole in the ratcheting gear (the thing that makes the clicky noise when you pull the handle) and it will lock the spring in place so you can attach the cable to it without it spinning.
It has been a long time sense I pulled it apart, so I am not absolutely sure, but I think there is a hole right where you see that metal piece stick out of the ratchet-er that locks it in place.

I hope that helps
