Fords are known for their loose steering with the power steering box. You should be able to adjust the box itself (where our pitman arm attaches and you will see your ps hoses too). This adjustment can save you another 10,000 miles or not help with a difference down the road. I know there are some good aftermarket powersteering boxes out there, I actually just replaced mine from AutoZone and it was like $130ish I believe with like a $240 core charge.
All parts are good . The steering was good for about a year, it got easy to turn , I guess loose is the wrong word. I didn't notice the change until I got my f250 2004. It must have been gradual.
i have a lifted 2002 f350 drove great for the first 40000 on lift and 37s but now you have to drive it all the time wants to wander i guess hook a 32 foot camper up drives great again any ideas?
My 2001 F250 V10 has the same issue but it is not the gear box. Both boots at the end of my drag link are blown and that will cause steering play. Check by trying to twist the bar if it pivots at each end it needs replaced. Also, try a dual steering stabilizer setup but order the shocks with high compression and rebound valving for a "stiffer feel"
