have an f350 econoline motorhome with a 460, first time started this season and took a while to start but when it did only lasted 20 seconds and then died, started it again same thing revved up fine but lasted only 20 seconds and died, could it be ignition coil or maybe fuel pump? (no amount of throttle will bring it back when it dies, doesn'nt even try)
This makes me think it is the oil pressure sender that controls the fuel pump relay.
...or perhaps the relay itself.
Sometimes its socket gets corroded too.
With this system the fuel pump always sees voltage while cranking but the oil pressure switch (not sender) provides ground from the inertia switch.
This is to prevent seizing the engine if it loses oil pressure.
You might also try resetting the inertia switch.
It is located in the cab and has a button on it.
I'd imagine it would be in the passenger kick panel, since you have a doghouse it would not be located on the passenger side of the transmission hump.

If it has been sitting for several months or more, then I say it's bad gas. Drain the tank, get some fresh fuel, clean the plugs, spray some starting fluid in the carb. (if it has one), and try it again.
it has a carb and I put fuel stabilizer in it every year, it always been hard to start but always runs, first year it hasn't stayed running, also tried both fuel tanks when starting(its a 1985).
Most fuel stabilizer won't do anything to keep ethanol from picking up water vapor and falling out of suspension.
Have you tried pulling the float bowls and seeing if it has fuel?
Are they clean inside?
Do you have any way to check for voltage at the pumps when you do get it running?
