Ok guys I'm sure most of you know the last debacle I went through and wether I was wrong or the company was wrong, doesn't matter at this point. What matters is the fact that I finally have a chip from BTS and all I can say is WOW! How have I not done a chip sooner? Anyone on the fence about it, just do it!
Here's how I got a chip on the cheap. Bought a canned TS chip off eBay for 215 shipped. I have the sellers info if anyone needs it and he said if the price goes up he'd still honor the 215. BTS reburn for just a shade under a bill for a grand total of about 315. Hard to beat if you ask me.
Yeah it's more than I hoped for. For the 20 min I ran it, it ran like a stuck pig!! Tomorrow's drive to work just got more interesting. I can't wait for stage 1's
I should also note Mike helped a lot in picking a tuner after said debacle as funds were limited. If I could, I'd send more reps.
I can't wait until I can get one! You guys will have to help me when that time comes. I don't know anything about the chips and tunes.
Chips are called plug and play for a reason Bill! You plug...and play!
In all seriousness, its a 1 tool affair more or less. Loosen the (10mm?) bolt on the plug going into the PCM. Unplug it and pull the PCM out. You may have to push the inner fender well in a little to get it out. Open the PCM up, clean the contacts well, plug it in, reassemble, and run the chip to where you want it in the cab
After getting to mess around with it more today it's unreal how much better the truck is. Shifts are smooth, firm and where they should be and the power just makes me smile. Had the PMS before, it just got a lot worse.
