Need Some Help Fellas

I have a 1978 F-150 Custom. The problem I am having is in getting hot or cold air from vents. Whenever I turn on either the heat or A/C all I get is air from the outisde; in winter no heat at all just cold air from outside and in summer no A/C just muggy air from outside.

When I turn on the A/C I can hear the compressor engage and spent 250 bucks having it charged and a valve put in and still no cold air. Hoping that no hot air either is some kind of clue that I'm just not figuring out.

Would it be something got plugged up?

Sounds like the damper doors in the evap housing aren't working.
There are two switches in the a/c control panel that have vacuum lines going to them and three vacuum motors (diaphragms) on the evaporator housing that control the damper doors.
There is also a vacuum controled valve in the heater hoses that shuts off water flow when the heater isn't being used.
There is also a cable operated damper door that is on the evaporator housing in the engine compartment, check the operation on that one, make sure the cable is free and hooked up.
First check to see that the vacuum line is hooked to the intake manifold, then check all the other vacuum lines in the a/c system. You should also have a vacuum reservior (looks like a tin can) on the drivers side splash pan.

Hey Mike, really appreciate the advice. Gonna check all those; really hoping that'll do it for me. I'll let you know how that works out.

Mounted at the rear of the A/C/Heater control panel is this little charmer:

D5TZ-19B888-A .. A/C Vacuum Control Selector Valve Assy.

All the vacuum lines connect to it (as does the 'kicker switch' for the A/C).

When you slide the lever on the control panel, this valve opens one damper door, closes another.

Slide the lever to A/C, there is an audible CLICK from the 'kicker switch' when the A/C turns on.

'Course, this is assuming the OP's truck has factory installed integral A/C.

If it doesn't, none of your or my info is related.
