to check sway bar links I use a long solid bar or steel or pipe. Slide it under truck far enough to leverage it or use block of wood on ground to raise bar a bit. Then lift. You will see the slop and clunking noise at that point.

What are you lifting on; the center of the sway bar, the ends of the sway bar where the links attach, the frame of the truck, or on the front differential?

right under the link joint is where the bar makes contact with the sway bar. The leverage bar goes to ground or piece of wood depending on lever bar length. The bar I use is 5' long or so. So standing by side of truck, you just lift bar and see the play.

After reading this thread, I checked my sway bar bushings (not the links but the bar to frame), they are shot. I went to the local autopart stores and none of them had busings for the 3/4" or 7/8" bar that I have, all the descriptions at the part stores showed 1 1/4 or 1 1/8" bars. Does anyone know where I can grap a set?

thank you

Check the track bar bushings too...that's what was causing the clunking in mine.

I am sure of the size, placed a mic on it, 21.5mm (7/8"). No idea where it came from but it has been on there since before I got the truck. Will recheck local auto part stores for bushings.
Thanks
