Well I started to get a squeek when turning and after checking things out,it turns out to be the upper ball joint, driver side. So I am assuming its time for replacement. I lubed it up and it stopped. Also the same time that started I have a popping sound in the front end. I just ordered new poly bushings for the sway bar and links. any input?
The ball joints can also be causing the popping sound, but the other causes are usually swaybar bushings, sway bar end links, or loose cab mounts.
I had the cab mount clunck a while back and resolved that.I know the squeeking is coming from the ball joints and hopefully after doing these upgrades all will be good.

The sway bar links were popping on me some time ago and I cannot tighten them any more.Hopefully the new bushings will take care of that.
Make sure the hubs are unlocked and the inner spindle bearing is still good (needle bearing where the axle stub rides inside the wheel bearing).
Reach around back of the front wheels and turn the u-joints by hand. They should be somewhat hard to get moving, but once moving, be smooth and not ratchety or gritty.

okay, so I gave the front tires a reach around.(lol) and the u-joints move smoothly. So I'm assuming all is good and I will only need the balljoints. I am thinking if when I have her torn apart,I will replace other stuff if needed. Thanks!
I started to have a squeek while turning last night. Maybe it's a ball joint?
It's sporadic and I notice it more at low / no speed, but maybe that's because it's a diesel. It sounds like a rubber squeek (like tires on an epoxied floor, but not that loud) or an old squeeky metal door.
I hit some zirc fittings last night and thought the squeek was working out after, but it was back this morning. I'm a little confused because it is sporadic. I just went out to get a third set of ears on it and it would not do it.
