ok here is a dumb questions but i am pretty sure my alternator is getting ready to take a dump on me cause the battery light keeps coming on while i idle so i was pricing out alternators in preparation but am finding 110 amp and 140 alternators. i am not sure which one the dual setup takes and which one the single setup takes. mine is the single.
also if mine is only a 110 amp would it hurt if i put a 140 on it?

thanks for the help guys
I put a 160 amp aftermarket alternator on mine. It bolted right in to place and has worked fine for 5 years.
You might want to add a second wire from the alternator output to the passenger side battery. I added a piece of 2/0 gauge wire on mone. The OEM wire is sized for the 110 amp alternator so if you exceed the 110 amp for a sustained period of time you may cause the wire coating to melt and a possible fire. Not likely, but possible.
Quick question again mark and dsmmh. I just had to pull the trigger on an alternator today and I bought the 140. I also had to replace my cracked degas bottle. While I was waiting for the thermostat to open to see how much more coolant I might have needed to add I felt the charge wire at the alternator and it was pretty hot! Hot enough to soften then insulation. Is this normal? How much heat can this wire take? Does the wire get that hot withthe 110 amp alternator?
That wire gets plenty hot. It has been so long since I ran the 110A OEM unit, I can't recall exactly how hot though. MY DCPower alternator gets my 2/0 wire quite hot.
Can you shoot the wire with an infrared heat gun to get an actual temperature value?
