oil filter for 239: correct lid gasket??

on my old 8BA and on my newer EAB, ive had trouble finding an oil filter with the correct diameter cannister to lid gasket. napa gave me a 1004 filter. the cover gasket is OD 5". my cannister covers on both flatties measure 4 5/8" OD. does anyone know of a napa part number or other filter number that has the gasket that is 4 5/8"? the filter element itself seems to be fine. if no one has a suggestion, i guess i'll go to napa with the cover lid and see if they can find a match. thanks, dick r.

LOL, I just bought a filter at NAPA, and told them to give me a 1004, going from memory. That's the Y-block filter! The correct one for bypass filters on flatheads is 1006.

Funny, mine takes the 1004 (and gasket).....the 1006 won't fit in my can. IIRC the center hole is too small? Must be at least 2 styles of cans.....

Scott, I was surprised how hard I had to push to get the new filter on the center pipe, the threads really bit into the rubber seal.
