Oil Filter Adapter

Is the gasket for the spin on oil filter adapters available at local stores or is it going to be a pain to locate. So far, locals give me a weird look and a "huh". A part number and source would be a help if someone has it.

The compete adapter kit to convert to a spin on filter is available for about $30 from T-Bird parts suppliers, but I don't see any mention of just the gasket being available. Certainly possible to make one from the proper rubber gasket material.

MACs has the complete kit for $22 and I think he sells the gaskets as well. Ed

gasket

Long time ago I looked for that gasket and it seems I found it by asking for a gasket that goes between the canester and block of the old canester filter it used to come with the filter so if you go to auto parts store and purchase an original filter check and see it the gasket is in there, I remember paying 6 or 7 dollars and getting the gasket in there, threw away the filter and just kept the gasket. It has been a long time ago but that is what comes to memory. Good luck Gerry
