What is the oil capacity for an oil and filter change on a 76 360 FE, 4x4?

My research has turned up 6 qts including filter.
My dipstick doesnt hit the full mark until i put in 7 quarts.
It would be real easy for me to believe that the dipstick is off another vehicle tho. The PO was just about worthless.

so...6 or 7 quarts?

Is your oil pan stock?,,, or is your dipstick a "replacement"? If your oil pan is stock,, I would add 6 qts. and MARK your dipstick,,

 

Oil pan is stock.
Dipstick looks stock but may be from another vehicle.
My plans are to do an oil change with 6 quarts and cut the tube so that the dipstick reads accurately from now on.
