Fe rear sump oil pan dipstick

I recently bought a 390 to put in my 75 f-250 4x4 after the 360 took a crap. The 360 that was in the truck had a front sump oil pan and the dipstick in the block by the timing cover that attaches to cyl 5 exhaust bolt. The dipstick is marked D5TE-6750-DA. The “new” 390 has the correct rear sump 4x4 pan that uses a dipstick in the pan. The 390 had the dipstick hole in the pan plugged and had a dipstick in the front. This dipstick tube attaches to the coil bracket hole on the front of the head and the dipstick is marked D0AE-6750-A. The problem is that I don’t think it is reading right with 7qts of oil in it this dipstick reads over 2qts low. The dipstick and tube out of the other engine reads at the top of the safe zone if I use them. My question is can either of these dipsticks be used with the rear sump pan and if so which is correct? Id rather just leave the pan plugged and use one of these if I can. If neither of these can be used what is the correct dipstick that goes in the pan?

The dipstick tubes appear to be the same length but fasten to the engine different

The difference in length of The dipsticks when lined up. The D5TE on top and the D0AE below it

Wow that was quick thanks! What is the part number for the correct dipstick and tube for the rear sump pan? Also can the c5 dipstick work with the rear sump if I plug the hole in the pan and use the hole by the oil filter?

What C5 dipstick might this be?

1965/76 F100/350 352/360/390 take 6 quarts of oil with a filter change. None took 7 quarts.

Oops my my bad I meant D5. The D5TE-6750-DA front sump dipstick. If used in the block hole will it read accurate with the rear sump oil pan?

Hmm okay this link confused me then http://www.fordification.com/tech/dipstick.htm

1975 F100/250 360 4WD: There are TWO possible dipsticks, TWO possible dipstick tubes. Before or from serial number W00,001 is the difference.

Do do you happen to know what the differences between before W00,001 and afterand the part numbers? I have no clue what this pan originally came from, is there a way to tell if it was from before or after the serial number break?

The before serial number W00,001 4WD dipstick (C6TZ-6750-C) has the specs, the from dipstick (D5TZ-6750-A) does not.

Dipstick tubes are not marked.

Ok thank you. My last two questions are does anybody know if the D5TZ-6750-B front sump dipstick will read correctly if mounted in the block with a rear sump pan? And does anybody have a pan mounted 4x4 dipstick tube laying around that they could measure the length of?

So I am temporarily using the front sump dipstick that I re marked at 6qts. I would really like to find (or make) a dipstick to mount in the pan. Does anyone have dementions for the 4x4 dipstick tube and how far the dipstick marks stick out of the tube?

I temporarily remarked the front sump stick but I’d like to make a correct one. If anybody has a 4x4 dipstick and dipstick tube they could measure and post the measurements it would be greatly appreciated

Drain the oil, measure 5 quarts (then put this back in the engine or use fresh oil) and mark the dipstick where the oil level is. Add another quart and mark again. Done.

You can stamp it, etch it, scratch it with a nail. Doesn’t matter. What ever your preference is.

I understand the concept and have done this with the front sump stick but I would like measurements of the correct stick that mounts in the pan (mostly looking for dipstick tube length) so I can make a dipstick to go in the pan
