Hi, this tree on the right, up top, blocked my signal to use my Hughes Net to keep bothering you guys, LOL! Its 80 to 100 foot tall and now that I'm out of there its being cut down for internet reception next year when I'm in the UP of Mi. I'll also have to learn more about using that tripod setup. I'm spoiled with the one of the roof of my camper, push a buttom and ten-fifteen minutes later you have internet and dishnetwork TV.
Great to see ya back Glenn! Bleepin trees! Hope you had a good time anyway, even if you went through a little withdrawl from not being able to come on here! Just kidding!
Thanks guys, your replies are most welcome. I'm in Manistee, Mi at my wife's family reunion so I'm still not getting much FTE time! The last five years I was in the camp ground near this spot and figured I spent 5 grand. I said enough of that BS so I bought a tripod, took the Hughes Net modem out of the camper and the laptop outside and tried and tried for a couple of days and couldn't get a signal. I moved the tripod to several spots but just couldn't get around the trees. I pulled out my Vu Cube I carry with me (a small satellite that you can move around) and finally got satellite 110 on dishnetwork. My internet satellite is 117 and my other dishnetwork satellite is 119. In other words, this hole in the trees wasn't big enough to swing it 9 degrees. The tip of that DAM* tree blocked it. I even bought a align-a-site and birdog to help me find the sat's but no luck. This winter I'm going to practice a few times so I know what I'm doing. On the 'datastormusers.com' forum some of those guys will set it up every time they camp even if its for only one night! I just thought of this, I should have had one of my elf's fly the dish up on a big pole about fifty feet in the air! LOL LOL!
PS, I had to walk down to this lake to get a cell signal. I actually think it was a bounce signal off the lake but I could at least make some calls. I would have checked in a few times but the mesquites were so bad I was afraid I would be carried away. That would disappoint a few kids, huh?
Good idea Todd but my camper was so hard to squeeze in there and I didn't want to move it. I scraped up the top a little getting it in there and that tree was leaning towards my camper! A guy up there is cutting it down for me for $100, hard to beat that! I bet that 455 eats the wood!!
