Ya Doug, this was the first time in awhile I'm been off. My wife actually said it was good for me to go without internet for awhile ??
Wow, Im not sure we agree with her here. I upgraded it to a Iphone to have internet 24/7. But lately I just have been so busy with work I dont have time to get on.
So true Talyn, I was told that and next year I'll be packing!
Doug, my daughters talked me into a iphone. The signal was so weak there it took a long time to bring any thing up inbetween 'no network connection' warnings. I have one of those signal amplifiers but didn't seem to work any better then just being by the lake.
I have Sprint because its the best thing going in AZ where I'm at for six months out of the year. I do have the unlimited nation wide calling but I suspect if your roaming the data connections aren't as good.

Sprint is good on roaming data.
Your going to use VZW Towers if your roaming if that tells you anything.
Thanks guys, your replies are most welcome. I'm in Manistee, Mi at my wife's family reunion so I'm still not getting much FTE time! The last five years I was in the camp ground near this spot and figured I spent 5 grand. I said enough of that BS so I bought a tripod, took the Hughes Net modem out of the camper and the laptop outside and tried and tried for a couple of days and couldn't get a signal. I moved the tripod to several spots but just couldn't get around the trees. I pulled out my Vu Cube I carry with me (a small satellite that you can move around) and finally got satellite 110 on dishnetwork. My internet satellite is 117 and my other dishnetwork satellite is 119. In other words, this hole in the trees wasn't big enough to swing it 9 degrees. The tip of that DAM* tree blocked it. I even bought a align-a-site and birdog to help me find the sat's but no luck. This winter I'm going to practice a few times so I know what I'm doing. On the 'datastormusers.com' forum some of those guys will set it up every time they camp even if its for only one night! I just thought of this, I should have had one of my elf's fly the dish up on a big pole about fifty feet in the air! LOL LOL!
PS, I had to walk down to this lake to get a cell signal. I actually think it was a bounce signal off the lake but I could at least make some calls. I would have checked in a few times but the mesquites were so bad I was afraid I would be carried away. That would disappoint a few kids, huh?
That's funny. Small world. My Father-In-Law's family is all from Manistee. Yeah that's out in the sticks for sure. Glad you're back! Bill was getting kinda rowdy without someone on here to keep him in line...
Small world Nate, I met my wife at CMU and she is from a small town near Manistee, Onekama.
I'll try to get back on the job and keep Bill in line, LOL. I'm starting to think these trees are starting to see me coming, tonight near Detroit I'm next to a small tree that I didn't think would be a problem. It was right in the way but I had room and moved forward (pain in the butt) and I'm on line. Love that satellite when it works!!
