Well gee thanks...lol. I'm telling you everything has been changed several times and nothing has helped. Only reason it isn't in the scrap yard is it is in such great condition inside and out. I'm convinced its something small, stupid, and simple but am at a loss to what it is. May end up dropping in an HEI one wire distributer and throw a carburator on it.
I find it very difficult to believe that there can be 12 different computers for an 89 Ford van with a 5.8L engine. There may be a difference in the CA models due to their more stringent emissions requirements, but 12 different computers? Not buying it.
With that said, I think you would benefit from taking the van to a Ford dealer and having them go through it to find out what the problem is. It won't be free, but it would be better than continuing to throw money at the van without knowing what the problem actually is. Have them do a compression test, leak down test, test the electrical system, check out the ignition system, the whole works. I hope you get the problem figured out.
Yeah you're right, I had trouble believing there were that many as well and there isn't according to the ford dealer. The parts guy said there were only 3 used that year not including cali and for my van which has a 5.8 with a C6 only one was used. I got that other number from Advance auto which turns out incorrect.
