If you've got the tools, build up a quick cradle out of wood to hold the 302 temporarily. We made one for my 460, and it holds up the engine by the lip the oil pan bolts to. Throw an old oil pan on and you'd be set to leave it there. I made mine out of scrap 2x8 material, and it held up enough to bring my 460 home on the back of a trailer going 75 up the freeway for 2 hours. Still structurally sound.
