We were cleaning out a building on the farm and came across an old Ford flatbed truck, we also found what looks like the orig box sides. We were once told it was a 1919 but the tag on the dash lists patents dating from 1903 to 1924. It has a wooden cab with doors and wooden spoke wheels. I was hoping you guys would give me some advise on finding out what this is. Thanks
What you have there is a Model T.T. Ford, not sure what year it is I'm guessing around some where between 1919-25.
Not trying to be smart here, but have you ever started one of these Model Ts before?
Be awfull dam carefull if you haven't before they can be very dangerous. If your looking to check the oil and can't find a dip stick, don't worry as there was none. You have to get under this truck and you will see a pet **** drain around the end of the engine give it a turn and if oil comes out its full. There is also another drain plug under the cab with a cast bulb like object that is the drain for the gas tank which should be under the seat.
As far as being a Crew Cab its not jus gives the driver a little more room in the Cab. Good luck starting it coils will have to be reset, and for what its worth to you always make sure the spark on the left side of the steering Wheel is in the retarded position, and that is full upwards, the other is the throttle.
Nice old Truck you will love this thing as a novelty vehicle on the back roads. I downloaded a pic of it here for you.
As the owner of a stone stock 1914 Model T Roadster Box back pickup i can help you with whatever questions you may have on starting and driving that lil TT
Ya may have to do the hot wax thing a few times bud. And maybe experiment with braking things lose cold and warm after getting it to pull the wax down into the threads. Back when this TT was built that was the penitrent of the day. No WD40 fish oil back then. I fined that 140 psi air and a 1/2 inch impact wrench either makes it or breaks it. With the wax or ATF mix the impact will most generally rattle things off just fine.
Will upload a picture as soon as we get in cleaned up. Thinking of trying to start it by early next week.
Had 2 of them, lots of fun. Do you know if you have the 2 speed rear end? Does it have an auxiliary transmission? Looking forward to seeing more of it.
