guys, talking down to someone only alienates them.
it is much better to try to educate people non competitively.

the best we can do is offer advice. if people want to take it, so be it. if they wish to ignore the advice because someone they trust told them otherwise, so be it also.

to FordOwnerJoey, your mechanic may have been pulling wrenches for 35 years.
some people think because they have been doing something for a long time what they know is golden.
we are never too old to learn new things.
i am 57, and have been pulling wrenches since i was 12 years old on the farm fixing tractors.
i am still open to suggestions, and just last week had a 19 year old show me a new trick on fuel injection testing.
so just because we think something is so, does not make it so.

If you do not think so about the frame being a ground ask out site expert on electrical Dave F, AKA Franklin2.
You can find him over on the Electrical forum:
Electrical Systems/Wiring - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

All I ever tried to do in your thread is help you but it is hard to get through to you.
Your the one who made the statement about running the ground wire that led to what I said about your mechanic. If you ask your mechanic about it I am sure he will tell you to move the ground.
OK well i did not know that, thats why I asked, and Im not hard to get through to, Any advice I get on here I try if I think itll work and if I havent already tried it.

vehicle ground systems from battery to block, then block to body. the body is isolated from the frame by rubber grommets. so unless a separate battery to frame ground cable was installed most of the time you will have a problem getting a good ground from the frame..
I will try moving my grounding wires to the firewall tomorrow to see if that helps any, Ive always heard if you wanna ground something run it to the frame, apparently thats wrong so Ill try another way.

He goes out of his way to answer questions that have been extremely helpful not only to myself but hundreds maybe thousands of other folks seeking advise. He is not an *** but a very credible person on this message board. Youll find you will get more with sugar than vinegar!!
Dont take this as an attack but a lesson in respect please.

I know he helps numerous people, he has helped me before too and see his posts, but there is a nicer way to go about it sometimes. Ive been nice about it ever since Ive been a member on this board, and I dont think Im the one who needs a lesson in respect just because Im a younger newer member on here

I try never to talk down to anyone, I just wanted help but insulting (yes what subford said was an insult to me, even if it wasnt meant to be) a close family friend doesnt sit well with me, he has helped me out more times than anyone on this site. All I wanted was advice and Im open to suggestions, Ive never shut out anyone from this site or in person from helping me, unless I know them personally to have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.
