I just came out of the hay field pulling my 16' utility trailer. I went to park it and shut the engine off. I got out and decided to straighten the trailer up, so I started it up but when I put it in gear to move the engine died. I went to restart it but it would not start and stay running. It just acted like it was not getting enough gas. We can hear the fuel pump kick on but it will not start. I pushed the fuel shut off switch but that did not help.I have been doing a little research and the first thing I am going to replace is the fuel filter. My wife has been noticeing it missing a little sometimes while she has been driving it. Nothing is consistent though. I have a fuel pressure gage but do not know where to connect it. Someone post a picture. I have heard that a bad cam sensor could cause this also. Maybe a dirty fuel pump connector plug, fuel pump relay? What else do I need to check?
Fuel filter was changed today but it did not help it at all. I am leaning more toward a fuel pump. It still cranks and does not start. It is like there is no fuel pressure. Where is the Fuel pressure regulator?
My fuel pressure gage would not fit on the small shrader valve and I did not have an adapter. I guess I will have to see if can find an adapter or butcher a tire pump hose. It is still doing the same as before, no start. Now it won't even hit like it is getting gas. I can not even hear the pump kicking in. I can't find which relay is to the fuel pump so I switched all the like relays around under the hood but no change. I do not have access to a scanner to run codes. I thought about pulling the line off the fuel filter to see if I get any pressure from the pump when the key i on. Any other ideas because I almost ready to buy a fuel pump and put it on.
I did press the schrader valve and I did get flow but not much pressure. I thought I heard the pump kick in once but still would not start. I beat on the bottom of the tank with a rubber mallet but no difference. I have pushed the reset button on the fuel shut off switch also, several times to be exact. I am going to see if I can find someone with a OBDII scanner before I put a pump in.
