I am in the military, and I am pretty sure my base drinks enough Jack and Crown to float a battleship every payday, the only places to gety alchohol around here is on base or right at the county line, after the city lines but before the county line. And every pay day there are LINES of military getting alchohol I drink Jack and Budweiser., not at the same time!!!!
Ahhhh yes whiskey, I am staring at a bottle of **** Creek bourbon and it is telling me to drink it I think i just might. And why ruin good whiskey with coke as for the Crown aspect of the thread I like that too a , just a different animal from good American 9yr old bourbon or 12yr old scotch. Above all else nothing beats a good high quality whiskey no matter where it is made...whoops I almost forgot about my greatgrandfathers drink Jamesons Irish wiskey mmmmmmm. See what you started
1) Jim Beam... Kentucky bourbon at it's finest, the best in the world. Usually on the rocks or with water, occasionally with sour mix, but mostly on it's own.
2) Seagram's V.O. Usually mixed with 7UP or Coca-Cola (not Pepsi or RC!)
3) Seagram's 7. Same as above.
I tend to drink Beam when I am home, usually with a good cigar or while smoking my pipe. On a night out I usually will have Seagram's, though.
Hey all:Believe ot not i still got a bottle of crown royal unopened from 1969.not a drinker here.well, once in awhile.told by friend when he turns 60 that him and i will work on it. should post it on e- bay.probably make a mint.i grew up in a tavern enviroment and it's no big deal to me.just thought i'd make of you envious with the 69.........joezee
I like many different kinds of whiskey (whisky). I prefer bourbon such as Makers Mark, Elijah Craig, Basil Hayden, Wild Turkey Rare Breed. I also like scotch: Dalmore, Arbalour. And who can turn down Bushmills Black?
I find Crown to be ok, but if I am going to drink a Canadian whiskey it will be Tangle Creek.
I prefer to drink all of the above in the same way: just pour it in a glass; no ice, no water, and heaven forbid you should pour Coke in it.
Jim Beam was my drink of choice in college (when I could afford it). I am older now and drink less (a lot less) but my booze is much more expensive now.
I'm amazed that Crown Royal is such a hot seller in the US (especially way down in Mississippi?), I had no idea. I've only really travelled through the Dakotas and Montana, and there they drink either bourbon or rum. You couldn't even get rye "Canadian" whiskey at most bars and liquor stores.
As for mixing with Coke, ginger ale, etc..., most rye isn't of the calibre of Crown Royal, that's what it's for. If you were going to drink rye straight, Crown Royal would be the ticket, but why would you?
SCOTCH is for sipping.
A nice single malt: Oban, Dalmore, Chivas, Maccallan, etc....
Being Scottish I'm PROLLY ALOT (for Dennis, who I'm assuming is behind this thread) biased, but there's really no comparison in the quality and variety of scotch to other whiskies.
There is but only one fine brand of bourbon, I do believe
it's Kentucky bourbon, the finest there is.....Mixed with a touch of Sun-drop, man that's good......
Well, for scotch, I usually go with Chivas, but sometimes Johnny comes too.. Sometimes Dewars, too.
For bourbon, about the only choice for me is Makers Mark. By the way, have any of you ever tried Makers Mark Cigars... Gotta try one, they're a little hard to find, but worth it!
For just honest whiskey, gotta be uncle Jack. My personal favorite, a nice bottle of Single Barrel or Gentlemen's Jack.. Now that's smooth stuff! If you haven't given either of those a try, and you like JD, you don't know what you're missing, pick up a bottle..
Now, gimmie a lot of ice, and cold bottle of Coke or Ginger Ale to go with it, and I'm a happy boy. For hours.. and hours...
Gentleman Jack is pretty good whiskey, and I am not just saying that because I live in TN. Now if you want smoooooth, try 19 year old W L Weller. It will set you back a bit ($50) but it is great.
Black Bush Irish Whiskey -- a friend brought back some from Ireland and I couldn't believe it -- it's the smoothest I've ever tasted. I looked it up on Google:
Black Bush Irish Whiskey (750 ML): 92 PTS WINE ENTHUSIAST. Produced since 1608 with Irish Spring Water and Barley dried in closed kilns to omit any smokiness. Triple distilled for superb smoothness.
I don't drink but I read an article that ranked the various whiskeys.
This is the Beverage Tasting Institute. this was out of 100:
Jim Beam Black ---- 93
Maker's Mark ---- 91
Wild Turkey Rare Breed ---- 90
Wild Turkey 101 ---- 89
Gentleman Jack ---- 82
Crown Royal ---- 81
Jack Daniels ---- 81
Waxy you haven't gotten close enough to a reservation in Montana or the Dakotas Crown Royal is king and you can pretty much make a bottle from all of the broken bottles, order nonspecific.
