70 vs 77 body.

Ok so some recent body damage has forced my hand and I have to start the body work/paint on the truck. As it isn't numbers matching I would like to buy junkyard doors, front clip, and tailgate and work them while I drive the truck. Problem is I have a custom which means no "dent sides " and trim running the length of the truck. The only one I've found so far that is also a custom with straight body panels is a'70 model. What if anything is compatible between that one and my truck (a'77)?

P.S. I don't care about door handles but the body lines do need to line up.

The "Dent side" Body style ran from 1973 through 1979 in the USA and through 1980 or 1981 in Australia. A 1970 is part of the "Bump side" family which ran from 1967 through 1972. The body lines will not line up at all.

I actually talked to the owner of the red truck (or claimed to be) on another forum. I never did get the lowdown of the girl... She sure isn't hard to look at!

Thanks osiyo. I kinda figured but had to ask. Weird that my truck has no dent sides. It took me a while to figure the name out.

What do you mean no dent sides? The "Dent" refers-to the indentation along the length of the truck-side, as seen on the red truck above. (It's the truck behind the girl, you have to look close. LOL!)

Post a pic of your truck, please.

Ok I'm an idiot. I have the dent in the sides, there's just trim covering it up. I've never pulled the trim to see the dents. I think i can get the regular side body panels and put the trim mounts on them once i have gotten them straight.

Yes, that would be a dent side with trim. You should have no problem finding patch panels and stuff for it. LMC, JBG, etc. They all make parts. Just about anything 73-79 should interchange with your truck.

Ok thanks. Junkyard has a ton of these. Real steel (not thinner china stampings) for a fraction of the cost? Yeah buddy I'll be going there.
