I plan on hooking up to a scanner this weekend. As far as the sound I would describe it as the sound your vehicle makes right as it is turning over. But my motor doesn't turn over immediately the "sound" continues for 2-3 more seconds. The pitch I would say goes up.
My vote goes to slam dunk a set of update dummy rail plugs at it to see if it resolves your warm no-start issue. The part number from Ford is -W302908. Either pay the labour to re & re both valve covers to swap them out, or bend over your fenders with your 8mm, 10mm, and 12mm Gearwrenches to tackle this yourself along with the 10mm and 12mm Allen keys in a 3/8" drive sockets.
If the symptom persists, THEN go for your STC fitting.
So let me ask you this If you can figure this Issue/Problem out Would you consider Doing this yourself???
If it is dummy plugs, o-rings then yes. With help from a neighbor who can get me out of trouble.
You have to go into the Valve covers minimum
Guess what I am saying is Save your money on the Diagnostic and Go Buy a ScanGaugeII
And Honstly you NEED a ScanGaugeII Regaurdless
We can check a couple numbers with SGII and confirm HPO Problem
Ok, just for my reference how does it affect a "rough" hot start?
I plan on wrenching on it myself with help from a wiser neighbor.
I agree. Everyone seems to recommend them. I have done basic research on their website. It looks like it is programmable for just about anything you want to monitor.
Thanks!

Injectors fired with oil when it gets Hot the oil is thinner so with a Blown out O-ring it lets to much out to Fire Injectors HPOP cant keep up
The FICM wont turn injectorrs on Till you hit 550 ICP range

SGII best bang for the Buck
There are more gauges than on SGII website
seems I figured 50+ possible gauges awhile back you can choose from but can only load 25 gauge into unit
Ok, well it went to the dealer today just for some routine maitenance. I got the oil changed and am currently taking a break from wrestling with the fuel filter under the drivers side. 36mm socket sure would be helpful about now Anyway Ford load tested the batteries and they checked out fine, I mentioned to them the slow hot starts and they noticed it as well. I asked them out of curiousity what they charge for replacing the dummy plugs and the guy said 2k. Included in the repair are new dummy plugs and a new STC fitting. They don't replace the stand pipe which I thought was weird. It was about what I was expecting price wise but it's a lot of money none the less.
I should probably start a new thread but since I have all of these knowledgeable folks attention I have one more, possibly stupid, question concerning tires. I just recently put new tires on (Nitto Terra Grappler 305/70/R17) and had them installed. Since I have been out working on my truck and had my compressor fired up I checked PSI. All four read 40lbs. I have typically run 70lbs and the tire says 70lbs as well as inside the cab. I have read that some people run it a bit lower based on the way the tire wears. Since this is the first BRAND NEW set of tires I personally I have put on this truck I am curious what others think should be run.

Thanks Again!
Also, ScanGaugeII is on the way!

Does the decal spell out this size? 305/70/R17.
They are not stock size tires and the stock pressures are irrelevant. By the way, are you sure the tire says 70 PSI? I have the same tires and they are 65 PSI max, as I recall.
With a little research (sorry, I forgot to bookmark it), you can find the calculation online that will tell you the pressure to run based on the weight that the tire will be carrying. It will vary depending on the weight of your truck, but mine came out to 46 front and I believe 32 rear unloaded. Those tires can hold a bunch of weight, but if you run them full they will wear a nice stripe down the middle and you'll feel like you're riding with Fred Flintstone. I will try to find the calculation and post it up if I do.
