Battery Light

Battery light came on a few days ago. The red battery symbol on the dash. Black Maxx says the system is running at 13.4 - 13.6 V when the engine is running. I have about 300 kM on since the light first appeard so it must be charging??? Have been using lights / radio etc and not losing charge. It starts fine and runs for a bit then the light comes on. Seems to idle a bit higher, 750 - 800 rpm like it is trying to charge (which I didn't know it did automatically). Any ideas before I take it in?

Thanks!

Sounds like one of your batteries is going bad... I would have them load tested and it should tell you which one is bad.

...But if either of them are bad, replace both

recommend deep cycle Odyssey batteries with the audio equipment you have. The amps take a toll on the batteries. The Odyssey's will fair much better.

This was my last one in my Chevy...

It was feeding three JL amps and lasted two years before I sold the truck and showed no signs of slowing down.

Your charging system should be running 13.8 to 14.5 to keep the batteries up on charge. Sounds like your alternater is failing. Below 13.8 volts running and you are gradualy running the battery down on charge.

Looks like you got it, the batteries test OK so off to the dealer to check out the alternator.

Picked up the odyssey's anyway and will throw them in once the alternator (or whatever) is fixed. I was planning a battery upgrade before winter anyway. I am a big fan of good batteries at -40 .

Thanks again guys!

Called dealer to book appointment

Dealer "We can't get you in for a week"
Me "Sounds about right"
Dealer "Wow, you have not had your truck in for a long time!"
Me "yep"
Dealer "We have to do the NOX sensor recall"
Me "There is no NOX sensor on the truck"
Dealer "That's not possible"
Me "Yes it is I took it off"
Dealer "Well we have to do it, its a recall"
Me "Good luck, let me know how it goes"

Got my daily laugh if nothing else

I may just take it to NADP........if they can get me in sooner.

P0620 !!

I just had a major brain wave to check for a DTC this AM LOL!!

And there is one, P0620 generator control circuit.

Just in case anyone else gets this attached is the test.
Says it could be Fusible link, wiring terminals or connectors, generator or PCM.

So far I have only done C1

If I can get to some of this before they can get me in I will, if not they can do it.

Thanks
