LOL, ya why didn't I think of that! For some reason I didn't associate the battery light with a DTC DOH!

I bought the service manual from helminc

2011 F250/F350/F450/F550 Super Duty Service Information CD-Rom - Helm Incorporated

If you need anything let me know, I am not the greatest at finding things on the CD but I will take a look!

Every time I talk about the 12B33 as a recall they say it's not a recall but a 'customer satisfaction improvement campaign'. I got corrected like 4 times talking to a service writer lol.

Something wasn't right.
I receive two letters.
They fix it.
Sounds like a recall to me...lol.

It is whatever you don't want it to be by the sounds of it. LOL. Looks like I am not going to have time to look at this so we will see how the "procedure" works on my truck

Well guys, this is getting better (asI think we knew it would). Got a call from tech a couple of hours ago.

Tech "your truck is dead in my bay"
Me "why"
Tech "we put a new PCM in it and....."
Me "what? I thought you were putting an alternator in it?"
Tech "we threw an alternator at it an it did not fix it so we put a new PAM in."
Me "oh no....."
Tech "we started it and it ran for a few seconds, threw 21 codes and now it will not even turn over"
Me "you need to install the download from the black maxx"
Tech "you need to get down here"
Me "sorry I am golfing, tow it into the parking lot"

Hahahahahaha

Sooooooo much fun.

This could take a while.

I am pretty sure the unlock code I have will not work with the new PCM.

Guess I will tow it to NADP tomorrow.

That sucks but it sure is funny.
You kind of expected it to go this way based on your conversation with them last week...haha.
Do unlock codes cost you or can you request them for existing devices?

You bet I did LOL

Unlock codes cost about $100.00. BUT they are associated with the VIN so I have no idea how to get one for a new PCM????

Hope HS or NADP does......

No way to know if the PCM is the actual fix yet or if they're throwing parts at it.
Seems the PCM is one of those throw away parts lately.

Well I am back....with my truck.
And I am very happy with my dealer (which is pretty odd for me).

Talked to the tech, he was great. Showed him how to re program the new PCM with the black maxx, he was pertty interested in it so it was kinda cool. It did not need a new unlock code so obviously I do not understand how that works.....

Once we got it re programmed it fired right up and no battery light.
It got a new alternator, new PCM and some new wiring all under warranty.

So life is good!
