my 1986 with the 6.9diesel truck was running rough i took after market turbo off that was putting oil in the intake in the process of that i pulled injectors and fuel pump, put new orings and washers in injectors and re timed engine now i have alot of blue black smoke and no power. i was wandering if anyone has ever timed one wrong and has any suggestions or if my fuel pump took a crap or if it could be i messed up the injectors?
i had my brother post this thread its his truck, i dont htink he said anything about a fuel screw, he is driving the truck right now, but it has low power and smokes, is the fuel screw your talking about in the fuel pump governor?
is he running the engine without a turbo now?
it will feel greatly reduced on performance without the turbo and if the fuel isn't turned down now for n/a specs, then it's overfueling and is the reason for the black smoke.
if he's running as n/a,insert the Allen wrench and turn it down/out/left/towards the firewall about 2 flats of the Allen wrench side.
that will clear up the smoke and let the engine live a healthy life.if he wants his power back,he'll need to get another turbo to put on it,or have his rebuilt.the fuel would then need to be turned back up to get boost.
